dog, his dad brought home a German Shepard/Beagle cross named Rowdy.
Despite not being purebred, Rowdy knew how to run a rabbit and quickly In 1977
Steve registered his first AKC beagle, Queenie, whom he later sold to
Dewey Smith. Dewey taught Steve the finer details of competing in field
trials, what to look for in order to combine the best traits of a trial
dog and a rabbit dog, and most importantly to carry oneself with A
female beagle purchased from Dewey became the first to hold the "Drive
On" name, which was acquired for George Robinson who was retiring from
beagling. This female beagle, named Drive On Bobby Jo, was given to Steve in 1978 and became a fundamental part of the "Drive On" bloodline
that later produced the champion For thirty years Steve has been developing a true championship bloodline full of Field and Show Champions, some recognized internationally. He is also an AKC-licensed Field Trial and Show Judge.  CK's Mighty Miniatures CK's Mighty Miniatures in Illinois Click to see my available puppies! Hi, my name is Cathy Kesler.We are located in Southern Illinois. I have always had a great passion for dogs, my grandmother always predicted I'd become a veterinarian, because every injured or hungry stray found a home at our house for as long as it chose to stay, instead I chose to have a family and a 17 year career as a nursing assistant. Always there were dogs, and a variety of other animals living at my house from ferrets to horses. My husband was a supervisor at a boat factory for many years, but had raised AKC hunting and field trial beagles since he was a small boy. When we met eight years ago, our children were grown, his beagles became our babies. I loved having the few puppies we raised every year, and took over the care of the mothers and babies. I fell in love with my patients. I have developed my bloodline directly from my husband's, choosing the healthiest and best looking adults, to make some very beautiful and sturdy puppies. For thirty years Steve has been developing a true championship bloodline full of Field and Show Champions, some recognized Internationally. He is also an AKC licensed Field Trial and Show Judge, so when he says it's a good looking dog, it is a good looking dog! Most of our adults were born here, and love to come inside and take naps on the couch with Mom, I've had mothers try to have their babies on my lap, they get so used to me taking care of everything for them. We make improvements in our kennels every year, and they live in the healthiest environment possible, kennels are sanitized daily, any new dogs are kept away from the general population until we are sure they aren't bringing anything with them we don't want. Medical needs are cared for promptly. All puppies are born right here in my living room. I bring the mothers in two weeks before they are due, and sleep on the couch to watch over them until the puppies are two weeks old, so that I can rescue any puppy who unwittingly crawls underneath an exhausted new mom. Puppies stay in the house until they find their forever homes. They are somewhat paper trained when they arrive at their new homes, and depending on the age of the puppy, may have started serious house training. They learn a few commands, such as stop or No. So they are used to listening to us silly humans. Grooming is done on a weekly basis here all puppies are very good about their baths and getting their nails trimmed. Vaccines and de-worming are done on a strict veterinarian recommended schedule. I am very lucky to have advice from 3 veterinarians and one very well equipped animal hospital..these puppies get love where ever they go. Puppies are socialized constantly, someone is always holding somebody, and they learn to play when my seven year old nephew Jesse comes to visit each weekend. They are very human oriented and love their people very much. There is always someone in my lap or snuggled up in bed with me, and following me around as I tend to my chores. Just the way I always wanted things. All breedings are controlled,and carefully monitored as are all births. I take great pride in handing over beautiful,healthy and well adjusted puppies to their new guardians. There's nothing like getting that phone call from a screaming customer " She's here, she's here, she's beautiful, she's perfect" at that point I always ask "Well, do you like her?" the answer is always a resounding yes, then and a week later and six months later. It is very satisfactory to know the dogs I love so much go on to become members of families who love them just as much, and I have helped start a bond that lasts even beyond death, no one ever forgets their beloved dogs.
